From Ambition to Publication: The Story of The Adolescent Anglers and Beyond

Ian first reached out to me early in 2025. He had been working on his memoirs for some time, but was struggling to make headway. A couple of chapters in when we met, we discussed Ian’s purpose for writing the book, his vision for the book, and how we would work together to see the project come to fruition.

From there we met regularly, with Ian providing the drafts and myself providing the feedback, refining of the text in some areas, and editorial work. We also discussed the narrative arc - breaking down events and periods in time into chapters and sub-chapters, establishing the best possible reader experience.

Working with Ian on this project was a wonderfully fulfilling experience, and it was a real pleasure to see this book published through Cooper Lee Press. Since publication, Ian has had a feature in his local newspaper, and has an upcoming feature in Catch Cult magazine.

“As a debut author, wanting to publish my Angling memoirs I was very fortunate to contact Craig Snelgrove.

I needed help in editing and formatting my book. Craig helped me so much with subtle suggestions for amending text, putting my efforts into Word and giving me advice on publishing.

Nothing has been too much trouble, my thoughts and enquiries always being answered promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner.

Thanks to Craig I am pleased to say that I now have a published book!” - Ian Symes
